Sweet Home QAL Week 1
It's finally here! The Sweet Home Quilt Along has finally begun! Sharon, Maureen, and I are so excited to sew with you! This quilt along will be similar to others hosted by Sharon and Maureen. There's no sign up necessary, and we will take six weeks to select fabrics, build various blocks and sashing, pull it all together, and complete it! Here's the complete schedule:
This darling quilt is so fun to design and play with, and (assuming you have the pattern) that's exactly what your job is for this first week!
Week 1: Fabric Selection
This week your job is to choose your fabrics! I shared in my last post about kits available, so look there if you want to, or just pull out some of your favorite scraps! You get to design your very own neighborhood. Seriously so fun. The possibilities are endless!
Here's the pull I've selected for mine (available at Lamb and Loom):
I'm calling mine "Starry Night" since I'm using that dark navy metallic for my background fabric. I don't usually do a dark background on my quilts, but a wintry, snowy quilt makes me think of short days and long nights. Hopefully it will be magical! All of these are Art Gallery Fabrics prints, and many from Maureen's newest Cozy and Joyful line. The beautiful floral will be my backing, and I purchased mine from Lady Belle Fabrics.
I made another version earlier this year that hooked me on this pattern. Piper Autumn Designs is carrying this bundle, and man, making those houses brought me so much joy. 
Sharon is mostly using Art Gallery Fabric's new Terra Kotta line, with a few solids and a print of her own design, and it's just so fall-ish and lovely. I can't wait to see all of those warm tones pulled together!
And Maureen is using her beautiful Cozy and Joyful line to make a snowy and bright version of hers. While her pull is using similar fabrics as mine, I'm excited to see how different they feel given contrasting backgrounds! It'll be fun to see them side-by-side!
